Most buildings feature more than a handful of wooden features. With proper care, these components can maintain their usefulness and natural beauty for decades. But neglecting your wood can lead to deterioration of these features, which can create further problems for your facility.
Wood’s porous nature can make it a perfect home for moisture, bacteria, fungi, mold, and other contaminants. The less protected a given piece of wood, the more vulnerable it is to this infestation. Over time, these contaminants can rot the wood from the inside out. If wooden features that are structurally relevant begin to deteriorate, they may buckle under the pressure. Additionally, mold and mildew growth on wooden surfaces can reduce the air quality inside a facility. As such, proper carpentry maintenance is essential to ensuring the integrity of a building, as well as the health and safety of its inhabitants.
The Budd Group’s carpentry maintenance services are designed to keep your building’s interior and exterior wooden parts beautiful and intact.

Carpentry is the umbrella term for any project involving the installation, repair, replacement, or restoration of wood. Many types of carpentry fall under this broader category, including rough carpentry, finish carpentry, trim carpentry, and more.
Wood rot occurs when environmental conditions allow for fungal growth that begins to eat away at the organic wood fibers. When wood becomes damp (at least 20% moisture content) and stays that way long enough, fungi can thrive and lead to rot.
Whether or not a rotted wooden feature can be restored (or even worth it) depends on the severity of the rot. If the rotted section is relatively small and isolated, it can be removed and replaced with fresh wood. Epoxy resin can also be used to repair rotted wood if you address the issue early on.
