The best way to prevent ice from forming on your facility’s surfaces is to keep moisture in its place during the winter. Gutters and downspouts should be thoroughly cleaned prior to winter, and any potholes or cracks in your pavement should be patched up to ensure water doesn’t pool up or gain entry, causing further damage. Some ice formation is inevitable during winter, which is why proper salt application to roads, driveways, parking lots, and walkways is crucial.
Snow and ice removal contracts differ from company to company and from situation to situation. In areas with harsher winters, it is generally more cost-effective for property owners or facility managers to hire a plow and salt service on a contract basis for the entire season. Those in areas that get little to no snow most winters might prefer to pay a snow removal provider per visit. The Budd Group is happy to discuss these terms for the benefit of each client and their needs.
Traditional rock salt can corrode asphalt, concrete, and other surfaces. As such, it’s better to use a non-corrosive deicer (such as a potassium/sodium chloride blend) on your outdoor surfaces to prevent ice buildup without collateral damage.
With more than 4,000 dedicated employees, The Budd Group is one of the leading facility service companies in the country, delivering high-quality janitorial, maintenance, landscaping and facility support solutions to customers throughout the Southeast.
