Hey Budd Group family and happy holidays. Welcome to December, this month we’re going to be doing something a little bit different for our safety videos. We’re going to be talking about health and wellness, which are extremely important when talking about your safety both at work and at home. This time of the year is extremely joyful for many of us. We get to spend time with our family and our friends and we get to be thankful and rejoice. But it’s also very stressful for many of us cause we’re thinking about presents and sometimes even thinking about spending time with family and friends can be stressful. So before we get going and talking about health and wellness, I just wanted to remind you that you never know what somebody else has going on in their life at home or at work. So please keep in mind that somebody may be anxious about the holidays, they may be anxious about their family coming into town, they may be anxious about buying presents for their friends and family.
So just keep in mind that you never know what’s going on with somebody. And the best thing that we can do is just treat them with love and respect and listen to them if they need somebody to listen to. And if that person is you who’s feeling stressed and anxious, please talk to somebody. It’s important to let somebody know that you’re feeling anxious and that you’re feeling stressed out. So don’t be afraid to talk to somebody. And if you need someone to talk to, we’d be happy to talk to you here at the Budd Group. So reach out to your human resources team and we’d be happy to talk to you. So I hope you enjoy these videos. We’re going to talk a little bit about how to manage some of that stress that comes with this time of the year, ways like exercise and eating and getting some rest. So enjoy these videos and happy holidays.
Do you guys like vegetables? If you’re anything like me, when you were growing up, your parents had to force you to eat stuff like this. But the truth is they’re good for you. And it’s important for us to think about what we’re eating in our diet because what we put into our body has a direct effect on our energy levels and our stress and our anxiety. I’m not here to tell you exactly what to eat or what you should or shouldn’t be eating or how to cook it. Just here to tell you that it’s important to think about what your diet is. Especially around the holidays, I like to throw my diet out the window and eat as much as I can at Thanksgiving and throughout the holidays and then I kind of pick it back up on January 1st. But this is here to just be a reminder that what you eat is really, really important and it can be a helpful way to manage some of those stress and anxiety levels that really seem to rise this time of the year.
Oh man, I didn’t see you there. All joking aside, one of the best things we can do to manage our stress and anxiety is to find time to exercise. Now no, this does not mean always doing the jazzercise or going to the workout room to lift some weights. Though those things are really good and can be helpful. It can be as simple as finding time to take a quick walk. You see, most people think that stress is just something in our emotions, but the reality is stress and anxiety are actually a buildup of a chemical in our body.
And so the best thing that we can do to get rid of that stress and anxiety is to release that chemical. And one of the best ways we have to do that is exercise. Finding a way to get that heart rate up, whether it’s taking a walk or going to the gym, especially at this time of year when it starts to get dark earlier and it’s cold and tough to go outside, finding time to exercise can be extremely important. It’s a great tool to release some of that stress and anxiety. So find time to play and exercise and have fun. This’ll be extremely important in managing your stress this time of year.
Oh hey there. One thing that’s really important for you to keep in mind this holiday season is to find time to rest. Now, this doesn’t always mean putting on your onesie and laying down in bed for a nice long nap. Though it is important to find time to sleep, sometimes resting just means finding time to take a break, whether it’s sitting and meditating or taking a nap or going to sleep. You see, the body uses this time to rebuild itself just like earlier in the year when we talked about us constantly pouring out our water. Sleeping is one of the ways that we have, and rest is one of the ways that we have to put some water back in.
If you think about a car that’s running all day long and all day long and all day long, it’ll eventually overheat and our bodies are no different. They need to be shut off every now and then, which means finding some time to rest and rehabilitate it. So please keep this in mind is a good way to manage some of the stress in your life this time of year.
