Create a Positive Workplace Culture with Gratitude and Teamwork

This video shows the difference in workplace efficiency and atmosphere between an office with and without gratitude and teamwork in the workplace. Showing gratitude and teamwork help in creating a positive workplace culture.
Video Transcription: Ewa: My name is Ewa Lorick. I’m your Director of Human Resources here at the Budd Group. So what do you think about gratitude and giving thanks? What does it mean to you? Well, to me it means appreciation and recognition. So let’s all take a look at this next video and pay close attention to the interactions that people are having with one another. Speaker 2: Hey Rhonda, I just finished the kitchen. Rhonda: Well let’s inspect the kitchen to see how that is. Speaker 2: Okay. Rhonda: Hey, you haven’t cleaned… You haven’t pulled the trash. I need you to get on that right away. Speaker 2: All right. Speaker 2: Hey, good morning. Speaker 2: Oh shucks. Hey Liz, I just remembered I have to get to my son’s baseball game in like 15 minutes. Would you mind pulling the trash from the kitchen? Liz: I don’t have to do that. That’s your job. I got to do mine. Speaker 2: I mean please, I really got to get out of here. You can’t help me out? Liz: Yeah, you can. You’ll be able to get it done. Speaker 2: Hey, can I get someone’s help? Ewa: All right. So too often we look at what’s wrong in a work setting rather than what’s right. Teamwork might be weak or nonexistent. Each person is there to make for themselves and maybe not for the greater good of the team or maybe even for the location. So we all have bad days. Some start at home, some just with one interaction with another individual who started their day bad. Emotions are contagious in this way. Ewa: So like in the video you just watched a person’s emotions and physical health is directly related to a person’s safety on the job. Could the manager have done or said something differently to prevent this man, this employee from hurting themselves? Did the manager even read this individual’s emotions when they were speaking? Their head was slumped down, their shoulders were down. Teamwork has been demonstrate to increase efficiency, improve communication, foster friendship and loyalty. So what could have been done differently in this video for a more supportive team? Now take a look at the next video and let’s see how gratitude plays a role. Speaker 2: Hey Rhonda, I just finished up with the kitchen. Rhonda: Okay. Well let me inspect that. Speaker 2: All right. Rhonda: Microwave looks great. Speaker 2: Oh thanks. Rhonda: Counter top is really in great shape. Sinks look good. Keeping up with your dusting. Floors, tables, it all looks nice. Thank you. Thank you so much. Speaker 2: Yeah. Rhonda: Hey, when you get a chance before you leave tonight, will you, do you mind getting that trash? Speaker 2: Oh yeah. Yeah, sorry, totally forgot about that. Rhonda: Thank you. Really. I appreciate everything. Speaker 2: Yeah. Rhonda: Thank you. Speaker 2: Thank you. See ya. Speaker 2: Hey, good morning. Speaker 5: Hey, good morning. Thanks for all your hard work. Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no problem. Speaker 5: Oh sorry. Have a good day. Speaker 2: You too. Speaker 2: Oh shucks. Hey Liz, I just forgot I have to get to my son’s baseball game in like 10 minutes. Would you mind pulling the trash in the kitchen for me? Liz: Oh sure, I’d be glad to. No problem at all. Speaker 2: Okay, awesome. Liz: Yeah, as soon as I’m done with this I’ll grab it. Speaker 2: Yeah. All right. Thanks so much. Liz: Thanks. Have a good one. Speaker 2: Yeah, I’ll see you tomorrow. Liz: All right. Hey tell your son I said good luck. Speaker 2: All right, thanks. Liz: Have a good one. Speaker 2: Bye. Speaker 2: Let’s go Jimmy. Great inning coach. Speaker 6: All right. Hey. Speaker 2: Hey. What’s up? Speaker 6: I didn’t think you’re we’re going to be able to make it. Speaker 2: Yeah, actually I didn’t think so either, but I had a really good day at work and this other employee helped take care of the end of my shift so I can make it out here. And yeah, it’s a great game. Speaker 6: That’s awesome. Speaker 2: Yeah. Ewa: Wow. What a difference. So in this last video, we saw recognition with positivity. We saw appreciation, connection with one another, care, respect, and friendship in the end. Gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions. They relish in good experiences, helps to improve health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships. How much more positive can that be? So thank you. It’s a powerful phrase, a powerful sentence within our vocabulary. Strive to use it more often in your day-to-day conversations. And you will just see how far it takes you and your team. So thank you for all that you do at the Budd Group. You are appreciated. Thank you. Testimonials

Dane Slaughter, Greenville-Spartanburg Airport District

I have worked with The Budd Group since 2011, and I have been very pleased and impressed with their staff, account managers, and regional support they provide. They have been very prompt to respond if there is an issue with the janitorial services. They provide an exceptional service and understand the importance of greeting our passengers and guests to allow them to have a wonderful experience when traveling. I view their service as a partnership and count on them daily to deliver exceptional quality to our tenants, passengers, staff, and business partners.

Guy Harley, Wake Forest University Health Sciences

The Budd Group provides exceptional custodial services for our campus. We are grateful for their service to our patients, families, visitors, staff and faculty for over 40 years. The Budd Group is very responsive to our requests and needs, and we truly believe in their loyalty and commitment to our success.

Billy D. Smith, Kershaw County School District

I personally have had the best experience and relationship with The Budd Group. From their owner all the way to their day porters, they take great pride in representing the company name, and doing the best job they can. During these unprecedented pandemic times The Budd Group has been flexible and responsive to the changing needs our district has had in every way. With every firm that we have used there have been issues, but no firm has ever been as responsive, and as quick to fix whatever the issue may be as The Budd Group!

Nick Mincey, Orange County Schools

The Budd Group has gone above and beyond in providing custodial services to our district. Following a lengthy RFP process, we as a committee selected them to help our district achieve a new and rejuvenating approach to campus cleaning and facility care. We asked them to take on a difficult task of staffing, and preparing schools for the start of our school year with only 6 weeks of transition time. We all knew it would be difficult at best. However, with the help of their Human Resources department and successful hiring strategies, we were up and running by the time our Staff members began to enter the campuses for the school year.

Blaise Winch, Capsugel

The Budd Group has been providing services to Capsugel for over 6 years. The service provided has been excellent and professional. They perform duties in multiple locations including a manufacturing plant, distribution center, office area, machine shop and fitness center. They clean all of the following types of areas at those various locations: office, bathroom, cafeteria, fitness center, locker room, shipping/receiving and CGMP production areas. As it relates to CGMP experience, they also created a sanitation program for the cGMP areas, maintain and created their own operating instructions, maintain document control and follow all cGMP guidelines for hygiene and documentation.

Susan A. Maddux, Presbyterian College

The Budd Group has become a true partner with Presbyterian College. They have taken the time to fully understand our mission and become a true part of the Blue Hose family. The housekeeping staff often pull off miracles when given very little time to clean a space on campus between events. They work long hours and respond 24/7 to emergencies on campus. The landscaping team has transformed the grounds of the campus such that the college regularly gets positive feedback from those who visit the campus. Before outsourcing to The Budd Group, the college performed these services in house. We have seen significant improvement in both housekeeping and grounds since The Budd Group took over.
