Janitorial
When it comes to choosing the best cleaning solutions, practices, equipment, and personnel training, our Green Cleaning Program defines our commitment to environmentally conscious cleaning and sanitation procedures. The main goal is to promote and maintain a safe and healthy workplace while improving the environmental quality of our operations and the surrounding communities.
Regardless of what LEED certification level you are pursuing, our program is designed to help you achieve the maximum LEED credits available for cleaning and recycling, as well as to provide a healthier, more environmentally-friendly cleaning service.
Green Cleaning - LEED Certification Program
The Budd Group has teamed with Diversey, a leading provider of commercial cleaning, sanitation, and hygiene solutions, to develop a comprehensive green janitorial program especially designed for clients wishing to achieve LEED certification. We have dedicated staff members to help your stay current with the latest LEED and USGBC information in order to achieve maximum LEED credits for your building.

Green Cleaning Training
To provide our employees with a green cleaning training program designed to help our clients reach LEED certification, we have launched a program called Healthy High Performance Cleaning, in partnership with Diversey. This training program has a proven track record with the USGBC and complies with LEED certification requirements for buildings across the United States.
Equipment
Offering everything from high speed buffers with dust control to HEPA vacuum cleaners that meet the Carpet and Rug Institute’s standards, the Budd Group’s cleaning equipment program is designed specifically to help clients achieve LEED certification.
Green Sealed Chemicals
The USGBC requires that 90% of chemicals purchased each year must meet either a Green Seal or EPA standard. Our chemical program is designed to meet all the requirements for LEED certification, and The Budd Group is currently using only Green Seal cleaning chemicals for all general commercial cleaning and floor work.
Soap, Paper Products and Trash Liners
The Budd Group now uses only Green Seal paper products, which include paper towels, toilet paper, and toilet seat covers. All these paper products meet or exceed the recycled requirements set by the USGBC. In addition, to comply with LEED standards, we use liners that meet or exceed US EPA standards for recycled material.
Documentation
A significant portion of the LEED certification program pertains to the documentation and recording of information for janitorial cleaning. Recorded logs are required for various items such as employee training, chemical storage, equipment repair, floor maintenance, and carpet care. The Budd Group understands these requirements and has the necessary experience to ensure that all information is documented correctly according to LEED standards.

Landscaping
The Budd Group is committed to employing environmentally friendly practices for the maintenance of our customers’ sites. Our environmentally sensitive management program addresses the following elements of building and grounds maintenance:

Smart Water Management
Landscape irrigation consumes 58% of urban water, and sites can be overwatered by as much as 300%. While water rates are rising by an average of 43% across North America, the real cost of overwatering is property destruction, water runoff, and liabilities – which can be significantly higher than water bills.
Smart water management is at the heart of The Budd Group’s Green Solutions. A well-designed irrigation system will minimize cost while delivering the correct amount of water to plants and turf to promote vigor and health. To help you start saving water, our smart water management program includes an audit of your existing irrigation system and the conversion of the old system to a more efficient system.
Erosion and Sedimentation Control
Because erosion and sediment control play an important role in supporting our streams and rivers, The Budd Group’s program includes periodic checks for loose soil on slopes or standing water to identify poor drainage or the need to clear your drainage infrastructure.
Outdoor Integrated Pest Management
Integrated pest management is an effective, environmentally sensitive approach that relies on a combination of common sense practices. This program uses current comprehensive information of the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment. Pest damage is managed using the most economical means and with the least possible hazard to people, property, or the environment.
Environmentally-Sensitive Landscape Maintenance Practices
This program is centered around low impact landscape management practices such as reducing carbon emissions and noise pollution, managing water run-off and erosion, employing practices to proactively manage and reduce the use of irrigation water, creating and supporting wildlife habitats, removing and/or not installing invasive plants, and converting seasonal color beds to drought resistant native and adapted perennials over time.
Additionally, the use of mulching mowers significantly reduces waste generation, fertilizer needs, and water consumption by retaining organic matter in lawn areas.
